There were also other issues such as retina display compatibility, iOS fragmentation etc.
2. LTE Support on the iPhone 5?
Some people might automatically assume that the next iPhone will have 4G LTE support. But again, there is a question mark here. There is about a 30%-50% chance that the next generation iPhone will not have LTE support. This again has to do with Apple policies about rolling out technology that is already standardized. Since LTE networks might be fully functional (at least in the U.S. and other western countries) only by the end of 2013, there is a chance that the next generation iPhone will only have HSPA+ network support that has much better domestic and international coverage. There is also a possibility that Apple might introduce a LTE iPhone and a another iPhone that will only work on HSPA+ networks.
3. NFC Support in the next generation iPhone
This is a more likely possibility as Android have already released NFC enabled products in the form of Android Beam enabled devices. There were several rumors that Apple made several hurried acquisitions in the NFC field, suggesting that work is on at full steam to equip the next iPhone with NFC support. NFC support will allow next generation iPhone users to share information with other iPhone 5′s, with just a touch. NFC will also allow the next iPhone to interact with other NFC enabled Apple devices like future Mac’s, iPad’s and iPod’s. iPhone NFC technology will also allow the next generation iPhone to be used like an e-wallet, where consumers just wave their phones to pay for gas, groceries and other such items. Think of your cell phone becoming like a credit card.
4. iPhone 5 release date
Apple has always been mum about the release date of their products, announcing a product release with just 24 – 48 hours of notice. So, people are just speculating about the release date for the next iPhone. Could it be in the Summer of 2012 or the Fall of 2012? It could depend on a lot of things. It could depend on the pace at which the LTE network is rolled out and it could even depend on the sales of the iPhone 4S.
Since the 2 year iPhone 4 contracts will run out around June of 2012, we are guessing that the big release of the next iPhone will be timed to coincide with that date, allowing iPhone 4 users to upgrade to the iPhone 5 in a timely and convenient fashion. But, we could be wrong.
5. 3D Camera in the next iPhone?
This is another rumor that became quite popular after a Chinese blogger revealed photographs of an iPhone 5 case that showed a hardware setting that would accommodate a dual camera lens setting. A dual camera lens setting can only mean one thing and we are talking about a 3d camera on the iPhone here. Honestly, we could care less about a 3D camera in the iPhone as 3D capabilities will bore people out quite quickly. 3D images and video also have a tendency to cause mild to severe headaches, after prolonged use. We think that this rumor is a rather weak one. But, we could be wrong again.

Apple will refund Australian consumers who felt misled by claims its third generation iPad was compatible with local LTE networks but could still be fined for allegedly misleading advertising.
In a hastily-called court battle with the competition watchdog that ended after 5pm yesterday, Apple undertook to display corrective advertising showing that the new iPad is not compatible with Australian 4G LTE and WiMAX networks by April 5.
It will also contact all buyers of the mobile broadband-capable version of the new iPad with the statement:
“This product supports very fast cellular networks. It is not compatible with current Australian 4G LTE networks and WiMAX Networks.”
Those who felt misled by the claims and wanted a refund would be entitled to one.
Apple sold three million tablets in the first weekend after the iPad’s launch worldwide, but has not revealed local figures or broken down the number between wi-fi-only and mobile broadband-capable versions of the tablet.
But the interlocutory relief is unlikely to prevent the ACCC from seeking final relief on the issue.
In a media release on Tuesday, the watchdog said that, in addition to immediate corrective advertising it would seek “pecuniary penalties” for the advertising, which it said misled the public.
Mediation between the parties has been set for April with a hearing on liability scheduled for May 2.
Should the Federal Court side with the watchdog, Apple could face fines of up to $1.1 million in each instance of misleading advertising.
But the consumer giant remained defiant during the court proceedings, according to various reports.
The Australian quoted Apple counsel Paul Anastassiou SC as saying that the company had “at no point in any promotional material for which Apple was responsible” labelled the iPad as being compatible with Australia’s only currently available 4G network, operated by Telstra.
“No such representation in our submission is conveyed by the use of the acronym 4G in the name of the device,” The Australian reported Anastassiou as saying.
Allegations of misleading advertising were made worse by the fact that US carriers routinely refer to their HSPA+ and dual-carrier HSPA networks as 4G, despite the same functionality being labelled 3G by Australian carriers.
Despite mounting global criticism over Apple’s marketing of the new tablet, the action prompted by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s legal threats is the first time the issue has reached court.
